history of my heart.

if you haven't copped this cat's new album, then yr life is sorely incomplete amigos.

ps does anyone have suggestions on converting cassettes into mp3s? are there any tape converters that y'all suggest? or is it some arcane method? i recently bought ciani's velocity of love & seven waves on cassette, & i would like to reup those files in gorgeous 320 for y'all, because really truly the sound is so vastly different. i also have more amazing gamelan cassettes & thai crooners & mariachi burners & some other aces hidden up my sleeve that i would like to convert. hit me up!

i used to be a king.

two cats from brazil go to record an epic psych masterpiece in mali with toumani diabaté & his son just fucking melting faces with electric koras run through wah pedals. just get this, you won't be disappointed.

ps reupped the yma. & will be going on a three day trip with no technology starting tomorrow, so catch you on the flip amigos.

war in a babylon.

what can i say about this guy? the neil diamond of the desert? arguably one of afghanistan's biggest pop stars? a voice that will melt yr icy western heart? ahmad zahir has been playing around these parts for the last two months now & i just had to share this gem with y'all. if you guise enjoy this, then i have some more of his stuff tucked away up my sleeve that i might share. also, will be reupping the yma sumac shortly since people still visit that post the most out of any others. any other requests? just let me know folks.

week of wonders.

spoerri creates absolutely stunning soundtrack work with touches of soft jazz, light funk & electronic flourishes. essential for all the cats who love library music.

the weight of culture.

first up in the reup category is vangelis' china. if you weren't able to grab it last time, here is another chance to grab this beauty in 320. i now have four vangelis cassettes, but this is still my favorite by far. enjoy y'all!

nomad.

i love how weird & demented this record is. joe meek is like phil spector of 2010 back in 1959 (both are amazingly gifted producers with a great ear for sonics, both were certifiably nuts, & both men killed a woman, only joe meek shot himself after... phil i'm looking at you buddy!). chipmunk choruses on top of off kilter shuffling dreamy skiffle recorded in the cosmos. just get it.

ps will be breaking my no reup policy for a few oldies but goodies. i know that the link for reyog ponorogo has been down for quite some time, so i'll get that back up.

blown out mali blues until the last track which is a pure psychedelique mindfuck.

hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi.

it's been a while.

bang yer head.

another one of those records i avoided like the plague because of that dreaded i word. harsh as fuck power electronics, kinda. if you like abrasive jams that transport you to transcendental head spaces that only ichazo & lilly have visited, this record is for you.

look for me at the bottom of the sea.

my favorite coil record. don't be fooled by all of those shitty fat goths who listen to icp & claim coil is an industrial band. that's like saying ahmad zahir is a black metal band. this album will literally fucking crush you. chew up a bunch of morning glory seeds & jam on the one.

for the owl wherever he may be lurking.

i thought y'all might dig on this shit. pretty easy going sunday music perfect for yr up and coming producer of shitty hip hop beats.

i am the gunslinger.

one of my absolute favorite acid mothers record. smoke weed errday.

a short missive.

it seems as if i haven't been on here in forever. with the filesharing services shutting down multiple accounts from various compatriots in arms it seems as if music blogging is a fool's errand. perhaps we can take it underground, beyond this & what.cd & waffles & whatever other ephemeral nonsense people use to share our life blood. i am going to post everything in my mediafire accounts & then ride off into the sunset for a brief sabbatical while i lick my wounds & strategize a new plan to storm heaven.

cut me some slack.

a masterpiece to end the year on. the first two songs are a transcendent one two punch. for my man flash. thanks for being an inspiring light friend.

i don't need any more rules that keep me tied up.

i heard this for the first time in fall of 1994. a friend's older sister was a "punk" & played this along with a few other classics. at that time i was listening to a lot of nirvana & PiL, but black flag just struck me as this completely alien thing. & it was amazing to me that these guys were making this not too far from me. i knew right then & there that everything else paled in comparison & that punk was really invented in southern california in the late seventies. i always skipped ahead to the dez cadena tracks, but wished they had the raw lo-fi quality of the keith morris ones. anyway, enough rambling. put this on & smash a cop in the fucking face with a brick.
