Chamber Gamelan

Hey fellas, quite a while huh. I was really looking forward to start posting some private vinyl rips, but as if lacking a decent digital interface wasn't enough, my analogue receiver started making some nasty noises. It's been hard to gather encouragement, but Ryan's posts on Gamelan music reminded of this fairly uncommon release and I thought it would make an interesting counterpoint. Colin Mcphee was a Canadian-born composer / musicologist who took his Gamelan interest into his body of work. Benjamin Britten would follow suit after a trip to Bali some years later. Not nearly as charming as traditional Gamelan, but still good music.

1-3: "Balinese Ceremonial Music" (authentic Balinese music transcribed for two pianos) - McPhee / Britten
4-6: "Tabuh-Tabuhan" - McPhee
7-27: "The Prince of the Pagodas" - Britten
