i don't see a lot of folks talking about this vangelis album, which is a shame because it's amazing. perfect score for getting high at seven in the morning while enjoying a nice cup of tea.

holy fuck. if john carpenter was scoring a giallo, then this would be somewhere close to that. scored by brian may (not the dude from queen!) who also did the soundtrack for mad max, this is definitely one to get! haven't seen this australian horror film, but i love anything cheesy from the late seventies/early eighties, so definitely will be renting soon.

wow. coming out in the early 70's kanada, what a bizarre album... the internet says he's influenced by cage, eno, stravinsky, & charles ives. dunno about that, but i do hear wisps of woo, mort garson, broadcast, iasos, harry forbes, ariel kalma & k leimer. if any of those names do anything for you, you NEED to download this. beautiful synth augmented by strings & woodwinds. this is a 320 of the lion reissue, so yeah. yr welcome.

figured since i shared the richard pinhas a coupla days ago, why not share something by his earlier band, heldon? this is ridiculously amazing weirdo psych prog with early electronics layered on top. if you listened to chronolyse & were blown away, wait till you hear this.

richard pinhas' debut album. if yr not familiar, he played in heldon, with pascal comelade (that reissue in 2k14 was the fucking cat's pajamas!), & on this jean phillipe goude album i posted a while ago. the first eight songs are beautiful solo synth gems where he is channeling philip glass filtered through tangerine dream. the last song is a fripp inspired epic with pinhas with a full band jamming on the one.

an array of dreams.

An album that has remained off the radar until now, Mar Vista’s Lo-Fi progressive home recording ‘Visions’ was pressed in a quantity of 200 copies with blank sleeves and sold locally in France. Influenced by La Monte Young, Ashra Temple, Popul Vuh, Terry Riley, Tangerine Dream and others, the album plays as two side long songs, with side 1 being a suite of 6 songs intertwined with the use of a four track.
One hell of a trip, it stands as one of the more interesting private press albums we’ve heard from France, and another release originally pressed at the Le Kiosque D’Orphee pressing plant (look out for our upcoming Julien Grycan reissue also).
The CD comes with 2 long and killer bonus songs; Crash ‘73 which was influenced by early Soft Machine, and Sykthetik Way, a recording from ’78 influenced by artists like Klaus Schulze and is limited to only 500 copies. One hell of a trip, it stands as one of the more interesting private press albums we’ve heard from France. ~ lita

bought this earlier today & have been floating in it's warm embrace ever since. released in 88 on hearts of space (connie demby, michael stearns, kevin braheny, etc), this is perfect for summer with it's synth washes & angelic chorales & soft tribal dances. my dream owl is soaring through the night air with this as it's guiding light.

memory expansion.

so so so fucking good. if yr into parry library records (especially the videotech gems), the amazing harry forbes, or into eighties music approximating a jungle cruise through yr cpu's hard drive, then this will be right up yr alley. fair warning, this veers dangerously close to cheese at moments, but totally worth yr time amigos. how do you go wrong with a song called springtime in silicon valley? you just can't.

ps now hours later i realize this is also available at electronic sounds. so sorry, didn't mean to step on toes. big fan of this cat, didn't do enough internet sleuthing to realize someone had beat me to the punch.
