n-sub ulysses.

Jay Richford & Gary Stevan (aka Stefano Torossi).  Exact reissue of the beyond rare Carosello release.  A delightful and cinematic groovy crime-jazz-funk album filled with breaks & beats,  deep bass,  electric piano, flutes, horn stabs, Wah-Wah guitars & exquisite string arrangements reminiscent of Nino Nardini/ Roger Roger’s Stringtonic’s mindbenders but also Janko Nilovic at his best. Definitely one of the holy grails of library music. - golden pavilion records

i don't know if flash ever posted this, i don't remember if he did or didn't, not trying to step on toes. & i know this isn't terribly original amongst the internet's trilluminati, but hey, i've been listening to this record a lot lately, & maybe some new faces will be turned on by this gem. real fucking groovy shit right here. perfect for sunday trips if yr pickin' up what i'm puttin' down.

are you gonna look after my boys?

this will probably be the last ciani album i post here. this is her third album... it veers off into new age lite at moments, but it's a really strong entry into her body of work. not quite as majestic or transcendent as seven waves, but still essential if yr a fan.

once upon a time in ye ol' western daze.

Once Upon a Time in the West is a soundtrack composed by ennio morricone from the once upon a time in the west western film of the same name directed by sergio leone, released in 1968. the film score sold between 5 and 10 million copies worldwide. - wikipedia

imma post the follow up to the indonesian tape i posted a while ago with the reyog ponorogo vol. 4 very soon dudes, but until then, here is an old favorite around these parts. figured since i dragged out ol' serge, why not some morricone as well?

victory flowers.

From the vaults of CAM comes this diverse soundtrack by Nora Orlandi (Lo strano vizio della signora Wardh, A doppia faccia), written for the 1968 French/Italian giallo directed by Romolo Guerriri and starring Carroll Baker, Jean Sorel and Luigi Pistilli. Presented in a 6-page digipak with original artwork, film stills and interesting liner notes, this world premiere CD release contains the LP tracks in both simulated stereo and original mono versions. Riddle, riddle, Debbie in the middle. Surprise, surprise, guess who dies? - amazon

more giallo steez from one of my favorite ladies. nora orlandi is amazing, & definitely deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as morricone or piccioni. & the description is terrible, but you know what to expect at this point. loungy strings brush up against gentle woodwinds to make you feel the rush of running down a deserted backalley while a man in white chases you to yr death.

p.s. a very special someone is letting me borrow their jump so i'm currently in the process of moving all of my files from my mediafire to the drive. i'm just safe guarding against the inevitability of getting shut down. the hydra is upon you...

lending a helping hand.

another exotica classique i got from good ol' flash. stanley wilson, while not on par with denny or lyman, is still a fella worth a whole lotta yr admiration. keep on fighting the good fight amigo.

promise of love.

another criminally unknown cat who recorded some really groovy shit for some questionable films. fabio frizzi should be real high in the ranks of the masters, but kinda lurks in the shadows which is a real cryin' shame. i have some other giallo jazz soundtracks i've been thinking of posting up if people are interested. also, sorry for the drop off in posts, sometimes real life gets the best of ya, dig?

when yes means no.

walter rizzati is an underappreciated genius of easy listening giallo jazz soundtracks to b grade italian films. if you like morricone, ferrio, marchetti, or piccioni, then get this now.

cover yr eyes.

ennio is one of my favorite composers of all time. this is a really great soundtrack to another movie i have yet to see. what is yr favorite ennio record? i know cats out there know this dude, but i think he is a great conversation starter, much like gainsbourg. i feel morricone is name dropped a lot, but i never hear people talk about his music per se. maybe i'm just in with with the out crowd. who knows? anyway, found this one in my travels through seattle. enjoy y'all!

walking through the set of a giallo thriller.

another thing you should know is gialli is my favorite genre of film, & the soundtracks for them are fucking legit. gianni ferrio is my favorite composer, & this is one of my favorite albums from that cat. real smooth sweet jams that make you feel like yr hanging out in Rome running down a dark alley one moment & then cruising around on a boat with the sun shining on yr face the next. this is the fucking jam y'all.
