be brave.

eccentric french cold wave from the mid eighties.

coming close to an end.

modern day drone with beats... mirroring maybe hype williams at their most abstracted point of dance? there are also cats who call this vaporwave, & in the same breath mention hypnagogic pop, & then go onto describe it as close in sound to rangers... i don't know about all that shit. it's pretty good, whatever you want to call it. if yr into laurel halo/notnotfun/oesb, this will be right up yr alley.

return of the reyog ponorogo!

one of my most popular posts, rising from the grave like some modern day lazarus. if you didn't get this the first time around, here is yr chance. revel in the sheer mindfuck that is this tape. ecstatic chants mingle with beautiful gamelan & tribal rhythms to make one of the best things i have ever heard, ever. not sheer hyperbole my friends, genuinely this was/is a record that i visit & hear something new that always is expanding my mind every single time! wfmu, here's looking at you bb!

the solitary ohm.

holy shit. this is probably the most i've liked a new-ish record in quite some time now. this cat is on some umberto/zombi/vangelis/claudio simonetti shit. i hate when people use the term synth wizard, but this guy is a bona fide sorcerer.

emptying out the archives.

pretty great funk from a cat who releases records every twenty years or so.

lazy sunbathers.

hazy lo-fi funk. if yr into the futuristic boogie that dam-funk lays down, then this might be right up yr alley young adventurers.

ps mehr pouya is re-upped for whoever asked for it. sorry it took me so long!

walking amongst the trees pt.2.

this post is for my dear friend mike. hope yr doing well amigo. miss ya pal.

bangkok by night.

a very lovely collection of audio curios & knick knacks from the fine label that brought you fingerbobs, the david cain record, & the reissue of the wickerman soundtrack. a veritable grab bag of oddities that is sure to please even the most distinguished of ears.

ps this blog is already over a year old & with over 250 posts! pretty exciting for something i thought i would do for a few months... hahahaha.

pps re-upped ballake sissoko. will get mehr pouya back up & running tomorrow!

you play for us today.

another oldie but goodie. one of my more favorite things that finders keepers put out.

city in flames.

absolutely gorgeous dreamy library style drum tracks recorded by a bunch of high school girls with a median age of 14 back in the late seventies. if you have any interest in exotica, library as played by umiliani, or just music you could play at a party while imbibing libations & sitting amongst the clouds, then this is right up yr alley amigos!

on a road to nowhere.

another classique in our circles, but how are you ever going to go wrong with the fucking raaja?

where will we be tomorrow?

i guess this is one of the records that gave birth to the "hauntological" sound? this reminds me of what would be playing at stone henge five hundred years ago while witches sacrificed villagers. & it was made to be an interpretive dance record for kids... again, what the fuck england? while morgan freeman was blowing kids away with his impeccable singing voice & hilarious jokes on the electric company, you were scaring the shit out of yr kids. great job!!!

yes i am a long way from home.

another post in my what the fuck were the british smoking series...

this show i believe was on for only one season. i have only been able to watch it on youtube, but it is a super diy lo-fi about a bearded hippie who looks scary as fuck making his hands into shapes of animals. it's pretty inventive, as they make the animals with little paper heads. the album stands alone as a very lovely oddity with folky songs regarding the different characters, but it makes so much more sense when you watch it. check it out for a nice afternoon listen that will assuredly put a smile on yr face.

love without sound.

so i had to share this because this blew my mind completely wide open. a gorgeously lush french psych record from 1971 with face melting guitar leads & washed out wahs & a pseudo japanese concept of uniting the west with the east running through it. seriously so so so good, i listen to the album at least once or twice the entire way through every day & find new things every time to enjoy about it. my favorite jam is aisere i love you fershure. you'll see, you really will.

walking amongst the trees.

for a good friend, sorry for the lack of desert posts amigo. this will make up for it! seriously jamming psych shit here. will blow yr mind. from the insane geetar leads to the ecstatic yelps in the background, this is a stunner.

library of solomon.

a classique of kosmische synth vision quests. grosskopf played in cosmic jokers, ash ra tempel, & with klaus schulze, but you already knew that right? & yes, this is a 320 of the reissue, without the second disc because i don't really care for the "remixes" as they are all basically garbage compared to the beauty of the original album.

radiant city.

what the fuck? this is the first in my "what kind of drugs were the british on during the seventies?" posts that will be coming this week. this soundtrack is a collection of old/new folk songs sung by the characters from the film, & an eerie creepiness pervades the entire thing. i really enjoyed this, & i'm sure y'all will as well.

status narcissism.

another classique amongst the circle, but for those who might not have grabbed this when it first hit the streets.
