one foot in heaven, & the other in hell.

some gorgeous minimal jazz funk weirdness from remi kabaka. this is a soundtrack to a cult film from late seventies nigeria. just dig in & move yr feet amigos.

lilith singing in the dark.

yes moar mali blues. the music is fantastic & really moving stuff. hope you enjoy!

re-upped. 5/30/13.

Friday, May 10, 2013

song of the plasticator.

some bleepy bloopy kosmische library jams from parry in the late seventies to mid eighties. one of my favorite things ever. i swear i heard these cues growing up as a kid in the eighties, anyway, just get this. mind blowingly good!

oslo skyline.

so a break from mali blues into the more experimental end of things. all of these grm reissues have been amazing, but this is one of my favorites. experimental, but not quite musique concrète, this ranks up there with parmegiani & malec as favorite things to be put out again. it's in the moments of hushed silence that i find the most beauty.

rambo zambo.

i know y'all are lyke gawd moar muzak from mali?! of course my babies, more music from my favorite region in africa. it's what soothes my weary soul after a long day of mind numbing work, & a beautiful way to start my day off with the sun shining on my face & a cup of coffee in my hand. enjoy y'all!

another beautiful day in the neighborhood.

some more beautiful mali blooze to start yr weekend off right, or in my case, my tuesday. catch y'all on the flip amigos!

cross my palm with silver.

so i ran across this in my local library & was amazed! this was put together by the guy who recommended me that osmond's record. old dusty recordings of arcane 78's. ripped & tagged by yrs truly. enjoy while i go get more knackered!

pt. 1  //  pt.2

i'm back sleeping, or fucking, or something.

philip glass made an opera about kepler that sounds like it was recorded for a gulag circa 1948. i'm not a fan of operas in general, but this one is absolutely stunning.

pt. 1  //  pt. 2

ghost ghat trespass.

i know what yr thinking... really the fucking osmonds man? but that's where yr wrong amigos, dead wrong. this record is a really groovin' hard rock record, like a campy t rex. especially the title song. holy shit so fucking good. even the ballads aren't half bad. just trust me on this one, you won't be disappointed!

stay another season.

some more mind melting iranian pop. again, same issue as with the tisheh o risheh. the liner notes are terrible, & the layout could be a lot better. but the musique is where it is at folks. swinging jams here fershure.

pt.1  //  pt.2

haunt me haunt me do it again.

i know this isn't terribly original in our download circles, but for again for those who don't have this, a classique burner of ghana funk for y'all.

a classique.

i'm sure everyone has this, but for those who don't, here it is in 320 for y'all.

the revolution will never be televised.

so ridiculously good. if yr a fan of that ahmad zahir i posted, or have copped either rangarang, zendooni, or khana khana, then you know what yr in store for. my only real complaint are the liner notes. who decided angela sawyer would be a good fit? why not reach out to some of the stars to get their story? or have them write a history of iranian pop's golden age. i would love to hear what they have to say about any of this. anyway, grumbles aside, this is some fucking fyre folks. grab it while you can!

ps i fixed the link for that brasil/mali record i posted a few days ago. sorry about that amigos!
