Sex, Lies, and death by synthpop

http://www.mediafire.com/download/eaw9rw9yfq6y33f/OY-PTMOTY.zip

After listening to the wonderful Sublime Frequencies' Radio Pyongyang, I dug this one up. Yeah, it's one of the bands whose members were executed by the fattie Kim Jong-un -- the singer's ex-boyfriend --, allegedly accused of pornography, amongst other things.

Not much to say about the music, mostly propaganda stuff filled with synth tracks. Enjoyable at times, eerie at others, kinda like a pea soup. I can't recommend enough the aforementioned Sublime Frequencies release, though!

Tapes For Sale!

so this adorable guy got very very sick a couple of days ago & i had to rush him to an emergency clinic (did you know they have emergency rooms for animals? i didn't). he's home with me now & seems to be on the mend (fingers crossed). the bill came out to about three grand, which was my entire savings. soooo this leads me to sell off my cherished cassette collection. most tapes will run between $5 to $10 bucks, with some being somewhere over that depending on how much i had to initially spend to get them. i will be posting a list along with some photos & prices later on today. any help would be much appreciated towards gregg's vet bills! thank y'all for reading this & hopefully i'll hear from some of you soon!

atlantis purge.

http://www29.zippyshare.com/v/5786836/file.html
one of the undersung heroes of the new age movement, & one of my absolute favorites. not quite as good as crystal illumination, but just as splendid & lush & beautiful as inner sanctum (which was my introduction to this guy as a cassette that i bought for ten cents). if you new age at all, or are starting to get into it, or wanna dip yr toes in, then this is a wonderful place to start!

Ivory heavens

http://www.mediafire.com/download/ihbshte5oh5ycu6/ETMG-PS.zip

Hey amigos. I put a good effort on my first post of the year to be special, hence the delay. And as jefe has been presenting us with such good music stuffs, I was able to do it at a calm pace.

Many people gladly have been introduced to Ethiopian music, directly or indirectly, by Jim Jarmusch's Broken Flowers, while restricted, however, to the Ethio-jazz legends, like Mulatu Astatke and Mahmoud Ahmed -- the Éthiopiques collection has about 20 volumes, still counting. And while have listened only a couple of them, I figure this one is probably one of the most surprising.

Before Tsegué-Maryam (emahoy is "nun" for Amharic), only Monk was able to keep me hooked on (non-classical) solo piano pieces. They both bear, IMO, a rare talent for adding that extra colour between the black and white keys. A rather pleasant way to start the year, enjoy!

ps. If you please, contribute to the Emahoy Tsege Mariam Music Foundation.

sailing through the sonoran.

http://www39.zippyshare.com/v/4230956/file.html

picked this up the other night from a tiny hole in the wall mercado here in seattle, & just had to share it. chalino sánchez is a goddamn champion around these parts. he has the voice of a golden throated caracara & his songs speak to the depths of the soul. if you haven't listened to the last album i posted of his then don't sleep & grab both.
