wala.

i've started to call this nordstrom jazz, or mall jazz, because when i was a kid in the early to mid 90's inside of nordstroms they always had some cat playing piano or some jazz lite. perfect for the mpcs.

ps posting this on mediafire since mega has been super buggy.

cold summers.

over 2020 all i really listened to was jazz & i got really into fusion. i know this isn't the rarest, but i listened to this a whole lot last summer.

no stress.

this album is so great. smooth jazz with electro elements from the mid 80s. i always spin it when i'm having a rough day & it turns it right around.

one for adderall canyonly.

hey there, hope y'all are staying safe & sane out there. been listening to a lot of music since the start of covid, & have been toying around with the idea of coming back. don't know how frequently i'd be posting, but would like to share some jams & reconnect with some of the folks from yesteryear (s/o flash, walking trees, owl, ghost cap & all of the rest of the pb crew & especially to buruno, reach out sometime amigo!) anyway, here is some jazz fusion from 86 recorded with a synthaxe for the mpcs.

a familiar bell rings from the other side.

don't think of this as a come back, this is just an album i've really been enjoying & i wanted to share it with y'all. jack kevorkian (yeah dr death) made this fucking tight jazz album from 1997 where he played flute & organ. heavy vince guaraldi (if you're not a humongous fan of him then you're doing something wrong) vibes abound. as a matter of fact if i didn't know & someone played this for me i would just think they were some lost charlie brown cues. not my rip, but do we even have to say that anymore now that blogs are dead?

ten am stroll.

to keep with the theme of cool guy french jazz, we have this jammer from 75. it reminds me at times of giallo jazz & other times tropicalia, this is a great album to clean yr apartment to at nine in the morning.

i will return.

nothing mind blowing here, but just really nice cool french jazz from the mid nineties with avant touches here & there. definitely has some slight eastern vibes to it, but doesn't veer full into romani territory. great afternoon jams.

forget the hype.

not really a john zorn fan (gasp!hiss!boo! fuck off) but this is really really good. i think because it doesn't feature him, they're just songs written by him. this is warm vibes, bill frisell's impeccable geetar squiggles & some very nice harp. highly recommend this one.

Free From Jazz

Seb Rochford is one of my top drummers alive, not only because of his drumming, which is quite awesome, but for his side projects as well. Amongst them are Acoustic Ladyland -- probably the most well-known, and my least favorite one --, Polar Bear -- serious quality jazz -- and Fulborn Teversham. It's comprised by an unusual drum-sax-synth combo, seasoned with Alice Grant's lovely vocals.

Quirky, ingenious, mindblowing album. Thanks for reminding me of it, guys!
